Engage in Monthly Activism

Henrietta Belloc Lowndes
My senior capstone focused on different kinds of simple activism. The purpose of this was to show people that even little actions can make a difference, and to show them different ways to do it.

I experimented in different kinds of activism, whether it was a visual piece to raise awareness like clothing or makeup, a protest, voting instruction sheets, media, clubs, or others. This project has motivated me to continue exploring different kinds of activism and hopefully inspire others to do the same.

This project presented challenges like making time during our busy school schedule to go home to participate in a protest and waking up at around four in the morning to finish my makeup in time to get to breakfast before school, but as long as I scheduled my day right it wasn’t much of an inconvenience.

Throughout this project I received a lot of help, inspiration, and encouragement from my peers and teachers, but more from my advisor and mentor Mr. Cleary and our librarian Ms. Bird who made themselves available whenever I needed help regardless of their busy schedules. Their support as well as their endless advice and ideas were extremely helpful throughout the process of my capstone and I am very appreciative of their devotion to help their students. I loved doing this project and the only thing I think I would’ve changed would be having done more.
