Powerlifting
Overview
We are excited to offer the sport of powerlifting. Powerlifting is a strength sport that consists of three attempts at maximal weight on three lifts: squat, bench press, and deadlift. The student-athletes who choose to participate in Wayland Powerlifting will not just get better at those three lifts, but they will also become better overall athletes, improving their explosion, coordination, and strength!
The Wayland Powerlifting team will compete in meets sponsored by the Wisconsin High School Powerlifting Association (WHSPA). The season will consist of three qualifying meets, followed by a State meet for anyone who meets the qualifying standards.
In Wayland's first two seasons of powerlifting (2022–2023 and 2023–2024), three student-athletes qualified to compete at the state meet.
