Wayland Academy Presents Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka

The musical Willy Wonka is based on Roald Dahl's story about the eccentric candy maker Willy Wonka who hides five golden tickets in his chocolate bars. The winners of the tickets get to tour Wonka's chocolate factory and receive a lifetime supply of chocolate. The story follows Charlie Bucket, a poor boy who finds one of the tickets, and his grandfather as they join the other winners on their tour. The other winners include Augustus Gloop, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregarde, and Mike Teavee, and they each learn lessons about greed and selfishness from Wonka. 

The musical includes songs from the 1971 film Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, such as "Pure Imagination" and "The Candy Man," as well as new songs written for the stage adaptation. The stage version also takes some liberties with the original story, making the character of Willy Wonka the narrator in addition to his usual role.

This beloved tale of five golden ticket winners, Oompa Loompas, and the candyman himself—Willy Wonka—will come alive in Wayland Academy's delightful sweet production of Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka!

The cast and crew look forward to welcoming guests to campus to enjoy the performances on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, October 31, and November 1 and 2, at 7:30 pm in Lindsay Auditorium (see below for location and parking information). The public is welcome to attend! Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for non-Wayland students and senior citizens, and free for children five (5) years old and younger.
