Media Studies
Media Studies at Wayland provides curricular and extracurricular opportunities for Wayland students to create media as artists and creators but also to engage with media as thoughtful consumers. Through workshops, and classes, students have the opportunity to produce podcasts and video productions of their own while also learning about the media landscape in the world at large through off-campus experiences and guest presenters.
Media Studies offerings include:
- Cinematography class to guide students in professional-grade video production, direction and editing
- A Media Studies class exploring the power and potential of media in the United States and globally
- A Graphic Arts & Media year-long class devoted to graphic design, photography, and print media
- Audio production and podcasting workshops
- Filmmaking and documentary workshops
- 48-Hour Filmmaking challenges
- The Wayland Academy Film Festival
- Media production site visits and guest instruction from Wayland alumni and friends currently working in a variety of media-focused fields
