The Festival of Lessons and Carols has been celebrated at Wayland Academy for more than 50 years. It is an adaptation of a similar service originally held at King’s College, Cambridge, England, that presents lessons from the Christian tradition interspersed with vocal and instrumental music. It is a much-loved tradition on our campus and in the greater community.
The service was pre-recorded this year and premiered on Sunday, December 6 at 4 p.m. CST. The video will be available through the holiday season for the enjoyment of all.
This year members of the Class of 1970 participated in passing the candle flame that highlighted the conclusion of the service.
The Festival of Lessons and Carols is made possible through the generosity of the Dye Memorial Fund, the Knopf Family Foundation, Mr. Marc K. Stecker `78, the Peggy Boldt Anderson `74 Special Event Series, and the John B. McKinstry Endowment for the Arts.
