Wayland Academy Athletic Director Earns National Certification

Cody Schultz, Athletic Director Wayland Academy

INDIANAPOLIS, IN—The National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) is pleased to announce that Cody Schultz, Athletic Director at Wayland Academy has been recognized by this association as a Certified Master Athletic Administrator (CMAA).

To earn this distinction, Schultz demonstrated exemplary knowledge, contributions and ongoing professional development in the field of interscholastic athletic administration. The voluntary certification process included a thorough evaluation of the candidate’s educational background, experience, NIAAA Leadership Courses, and professional contributions. It culminated with a practical written or oral presentation project.

“Having highly qualified professionals working with our students is a priority of ours; we are very lucky to have Cody serving as Wayland Academy’s athletic director. Through his leadership, our athletic program has grown in remarkable ways, with many of our graduates moving on to play sports in college,” noted Head of School Jason Warnick.

Schultz is one of an elite group of interscholastic athletic administrators nationwide to attain this level of professionalism.  There are only 897 current NIAAA members with the Certified Master Athletic Administrator certification, and only 31 of those are from Wisconsin.

Schultz had this to say about earning his certification, “Gaining my CMAA certification from the NIAAA has been a career goal of mine and I am extremely proud of this accomplishment. The knowledge gained through the classes and coursework required for the CMAA has been instrumental in my career development, making me a better leader and better equipped to serve the student-athletes I am blessed to work with.”
