Ring-the-Bell Student-Athletes of the Week—September 26

Ring the Bell Student-Athletes of the Week for Tennis—Irmak Ercil `23 and Ece Maral `23

Congratulations to this week's (September 26) Ring-the-Bell Student-Athletes of the Week:

  • Cross Country—Vicky Ezeh `24: Vicky cut an incredible seven (7) minutes off of her 5K time from one meet to the next. She works hard every day in practice and runs hard in meets. She has also worked through some injuries.
  • Rowing—Cooper Ade `23: Cooper has been stroke seat of the boys eight doing a wonderful job leading the crew and being a positive force throughout the season.
  • Soccer—Ashton Recheck `23: Extremely helpful with the team after practice. Everyday and at all times, he is a great supporter and always ready to go! He Rings the Bell in life by being on time, staying late, and giving his best efforts in whatever he does.
  • Girls Tennis—Irmak Ercil `23 and Ece Maral `23: The tennis team is proud to announce the JV doubles team of Irmak Ercil and Ece Maral as Ring the Bell Student-Athletes this week. They are new to tennis and played their first match against Lake Mills where they won an impressive three games in their set against one of the top teams in the conference!
  • Volleyball (Varsity, JV, JV2)—Carmen Kehrmeyer `23, Ana Del Pozo Pavon `25, Sierra Mietzel `26: For continuing dedication to improvement, leadership, and teamwork! They are Great Leaders by example and we are glad to have them "ring the bell" every day for Big Red Athletics!

This week we also have a special Ring the Bell award winner—Coach Glen Richards `84! Coach Richards is in his first year as the girls head tennis coach and has done a great job. His team picked up their first match victory against Columbus on September 16. Coach Richards Rings the Bell in the way he enthusiastically embraced the challenge of being a first-year head coach tennis coach; consistently puts in the work to get better by watching videos, reading books, and talking to other tennis coaches; and brings positivity to his daily interactions with others during class or at practice

Keep ringing the bell—personally, athletically, and academically! 🎉
