Ring-the-Bell Student-Athletes of the Week—April 8
Congratulations to this week's Ring the Bell Student-Athletes! Their coaches are recognizing them for personally, athletically, and academically ringing the bell! 🫶🏽 🎉
- Baseball—Nomar Ramirez `24: Nomar was selected this week because of his willingness to be whatever the team needs. He takes reps, catches for the coaches, and runs bases, and he always has a positive attitude and a smile on his face. Nomar is also one of the first people to help pick up equipment. All around, he's been just a super-teammate!
- Golf—Nickolai Johnson `27: This week, Nickolai was selected for putting in great effort during practices, doing his best academically, and bringing in equipment to practice putting while not at the course. Nickolai rings the bell for golf.
- Lacrosse—Liam Cleary `26: On Saturday, Liam showcased a ton of grit and determination for stepping into the cage for his first-ever start at goal. He made many impressive saves and kept the team morale high throughout the game. We look for Liam to continue to grow in his newfound role on the team for the remainder of the season. Keep up the great work, Liam!
- Rowing—Deniz Ergun `24: Deniz is being recognized for a blistering first 2K erg time of 7:10 while observing Ramadan! Deniz returns this year to his third spring season, the second in which Wayland is actually competing. He rowed in our Novice 4 at MidWest Scholastic Championships last year, and we are looking forward to another excellent spring season with his and his teammate's experience growth.
- Girls Soccer—Montse Murillo `25: Montse has been the ultimate team player for the soccer team. She has played various positions on the field, brings a positive, selfless attitude, and puts the team first. In the ultimate team spirit, she stepped into the toughest position to play, with no experience, and played goalie when an injury occurred. In the spirit of the next player up, she stepped up and had 11 saves! A job well done and well deserved!
- Softball—Molly Kim `27: Molly consistently works hard and always tries her best. She is one of her teammates' biggest cheerleaders and will always encourage them! She is eager to learn and improve, which makes her a joy to coach.
- Boys Tennis—Andy Nguyen `26: Andy has been working hard and putting in great effort to improve his tennis skills. He is a motivated tennis player who is able to focus and put in the time to be his best.
- Track and Field—Maria Jose Acon `24: Maria has kept a positive attitude during a very challenging week of practice. She has been a leader for two years and continues to be one this year.
Way to go, Big Red! Keep ringing the bell! 🔔 🔔 🔔
