Ring-the-Bell Student-Athletes of the Week—October 16

JV2 Volleyball Ring the Bell Student-Athletes of the Week—The Entire JV2 Volleyball Team

This week's Ring the Bell Student-Athlete group includes an entire team of volleyball athletes, state finalists in tennis, and other outstanding Wayland student-athletes who have been ringing the bell personally, athletically, and academically. 🔔 Join us in congratulating them as this week's Ring the Bell Student-Athletes of the Week! 🎉

  • Cross Country—Ethyn Tallman `24: Our athlete of the week is Ethyn Tallman. Ethyn has been a senior leader in cross country this year and has had some excellent times recently. We will miss Ethan next year, and we are lucky to have had him on the team.
  • Football—Ahmet Yavuz `24: Football's Ring the Bell Student-Athlete of the week is Ahmet Yavuz! Ahmet had a great week of practice, consistently trying to perfect the small things, so the overall performance continues to accel like he has been doing all season! Ahmet is an excellent lead-by-example human being, and we are so grateful to have him as a leader in our program.
  • Rowing—Sude Avci `24 and Peter Nguyen `25:
    • Sude is recognized for improving her 2K time by 14% and her commitment to consistent progress. She has role-modeled, pushed self-perceived limits, and found the next gear.
    • Peter was selected because of his 13% improvement in his 2K time and his consistent desire to learn more about rowing through good questions that others may want to ask but don't.
  • Soccer—Daniel Brunstad `27Freshman Daniel Brunstad is the Ring the Bell Student-Athlete of the Week for boys soccer. Daniel works hard every day in practice and is resilient and positive in the face of adversity. Daniel moves on from setbacks and remains positive and dedicated to the team.
  • Swimming—Grace Wells `27: Thirty minutes before the meet on Saturday, Grace was thrown into another event due to unforeseeable circumstances. This meant Grace had to swim back to back in the first two events of the meet. Grace took it with stride and even got a personal best!
  • Tennis—Lu McGuinness Rodriguez `24 and Dalia Alcalá Olalla `24: Congratulations to Lu McGuinness Rodriguez and Dalia Alcalá Olalla for being one of the top sixteen teams in the state of Wisconsin within division two. Their undefeated regular season performance this year has been truly remarkable. Way to Ring the Bell!
  • JV2 Volleyball—The Entire Team!: We are so proud of the entire JV2 volleyball team for an amazing season together. They focused on learning the basics and moving on to the more technical aspects of volleyball. They were cheerleaders and leaders together, and it created a bond that was seen on and off the court. They get to practice early and get to practice on the side until the practice officially starts, which shows the heart that they all have. We are proud of our JV2 team and know they are all #RTB athletes!
  • JV Volleyball—Ella Kikkert `26: Ella has shown tremendous growth over the entire season and has been one of the four JV volleyball players to be pushed up to assist with the Varsity team. She has learned to be a better leader on the JV court, ensuring that her team focuses on the strategy ahead of them and encourages other teammates to support one another in the good and the bad. Her leadership and empathy for her teammates have created the leading stats for the season this past Monday against University Lake! We are proud to have Ella as our RTB athlete of the week and know she continues to #RingtheBell
  • Varsity Volleyball—Dani Espinoza `24: Dani has been one of the leaders of the varsity team for the entire year. She focuses on self-reflection and encourages others to work on the technical skills needed to be better players and partners on and off the court. She is committed to the game and ranked up her stats on Monday evening's game with the most kills of the season against University Lake! She is a solid competitor and wants to learn more about what she can continue to do better. Keep on ringing that bell, Dani!

Keep ringing the bell, Big Red student-athletes! 🔔 🎉
