Ring-the-Bell Student-Athletes of the Week—May 1
Congratulations to this week's Ring the Bell Student-Athletes! Join us in celebrating these Big Red student-athletes for ringing the bell personally, academically, and athletically. 🔔
- Baseball—Juan Casal Vallecillo `25: Juan shows up every day ready to work, plays wherever we need him to be, and always with a great attitude.
- Lacrosse—Ignacio "Nacho" Garrido Viti `23 and DeShawn Wint `23: This week's athletes of the week are De’shawn and Nacho. Both of these outstanding young men have been exceptional leaders this past week. They have pushed themselves, and others, to work harder than their norm. They both constantly encouraged the team and picked up players when they were discouraged. For their hard work, leadership, and positive attitude this past week, they are the lacrosse Ring the Bell Student-Athletes of the week.
- Soccer—Lila Nash `24: Lila is being recognized for her growth as a soccer player, teammate, and overall leader based on her play on the field. This is what coaches look for. Her performance in Thursday's game is what a true sweeper-keeper does. She has an impact on the game and plays all 90 minutes. She is becoming a top-three goalie in our conference.
- Rowing—Adrian Garcia Lechuga `25 and Llyan Tabas `24:
- Adrian is being recognized for his insights into the psychology of race rowing and his determination to improve his crew.
- Llyan is being recognized for bringing the freshman quad across the finish line after four times on the water.
- Softball—Ciara Jean Jacques `24: This week's Ring the Bell Student-Athlete for softball is Cierra Jean-Jacques. Her help to her teammates, hard work in right field, and her competitive spirit keep her ringing the bell. WAY TO GO!
- Tennis—Koray Bayraktar `23: Koray works hard at improving his skills at every tennis practice. He has developed a hard serve and consistent groundstrokes that have made him a tough competitor.
- Track and Field—Grazy Karangwa `24 and Ryn Tallman `23:
- Grazy is being recognized because of his positivity and total team support, regardless of the situation. Also, for making the best of a bad situation with his injury and focusing on throwing until he can begin to run and jump again.
- Ryn has been a positive presence on our team all year. They’re willing to take on whatever events the team needs from them, and give it their all. Rynn will really be missed when they head off to college next year.
Keep ringing the bell! 🔔 🎉
