We are celebrating our Ring the Bell Student-Athletes of the Week who are working hard to ring the bell personally, athletically, and academically! These student-athletes are enthusiastic, dedicated, confident, positive, and focused. 🎉
- Baseball—Sam Porras `25: Sam is being recognized for always wanting an extra rep.
- Golf—Nickolai Johnson `27: Congratulations to golf's Ring the Bell athlete of the week, Nickolai Johnson. His dedication and enthusiasm for Wayland golf shows in everything he does. At practice, games, and now his after-school job all revolves around golf. Way to ring the bell!!
- Lacrosse—Mario Padilla `26: Mario has worked hard in practice and has improved every week. Recently, Mario was rewarded for his hard work by scoring his first-ever goal, and he is looking to add more to the total as the season progresses. Mario is a hard worker, coachable, and helps to hold others accountable on the team. For these reasons and countless others, Mario is the Ring the Bell athlete of the week.
- Rowing—Niki Zils `25: Niki stepped up to stroke the varsity 4 at our first spring regatta. Which was also our first time going to the Indianapolis Junior Invitational.
- Girls Soccer—Ssanyu Nambeguya `25: Ssanyu has really impressed and stepped up her leadership skills on and off the pitch. She has held her teammates accountable and even stepped up and organized this year's first player-led training session. Ssanyu really understands the importance of teamwork, leadership, and responsibility. She has grown holistically as a player and individual. I'm proud of her growth and character, and there is no limit to her potential in life and sports!
- Softball—Mary Whittier `27: Mary played incredibly well against Markesan during our game on Friday. She stayed confident in herself and got a hit during her at-bat! Mary started for us in center field and worked really hard. She has grown so much during her time in softball. It's brand new to her, but she stays positive and open to learning more.
- Boys Tennis—Martin Serrano Castillo `26: Martin is focused and coachable during his tennis matches. He has been consistently winning his singles matches and is a top player in our conference.
- Track and Field—Javan Hirwa `24: Javan, one of our captains, had a big PR at the Trailways Duel meet at Dodgeland. He is approaching the school record and finishing an excellent track career with a bang.
