Happy New Year! We kick off the new year with the first Ring the Bell Student-Athletes of the Week for 2024. Let's celebrate these Big Red student-athletes who are—personally, athletically, and academically—ringing the bell. 🔔
- Boys Basketball—Grazy Karangwa `24: Since returning from the holiday break, Grazy `24 has been bringing energy and positivity to the boys basketball team. Grazy is upbeat each day at practice and remained positive while playing through foul trouble. Grazy’s ability to avoid becoming discouraged helps him Ring the Bell in basketball and beyond.
- Girls Basketball—Montse Murillo `25: During our first week back, Montse has been a leader at practice by example and vocally. She’s the first in line for drills and conditioning and is encouraging everyone with a positive attitude and a contagious work ethic.
- Cheerleading—Jacqueline Fogarty `26: Jacqueline has been at every practice this season with a smile on her face and a positive attitude. She even made it to both practices that day students were excused from because of extreme weather. She is a naturally talented and dedicated athlete who is easy to coach.
- Fencing—Hanna Paszczuk `25: Hanna has developed a great posture and is starting to use strategy in bouts.
- Forensics—Kennedy Norris `26: Kennedy has been working hard on her solo piece since this summer, and she takes time as a team captain to help anyone who needs guidance with their performances. She gives great advice, and she is definitely a master of her craft.
- Powerlifting—Lydia Fair `27 and Aidin Richardson `25: Lydia and Aidin returned from break with positive attitudes and great effort! Both are new to powerlifting this year but have made huge strides in form, technique, and strength. Way to Ring the Bell, Lydia, and Aidin!
- Boys Swimming—Andy Nguyen `26: Andy is willing to swim any event needed for the team and stays after practice time to work on skills nearly every day.
- Boys Wrestling—SD Nimeri `25: SD wrestled in the Challenge Series Qualifier last Saturday, placing third out of 15, and he qualified for the Challenge Series Finals on Saturday, January 20. SD also wrestled in Horicon last week and placed first in his bracket. SD has shown tremendous work ethic and dedication throughout the season, which has paid off in his success on the mat this year.
Go Big Red! 🎉 Keep ringing the bell! 🔔
