Ring-the-Bell Student-Athletes of the Month for September 2025

Wayland Academy proudly recognizes our September Ring the Bell Student-Athletes of the Month! Each month, this honor celebrates Big Red athletes who exemplify excellence in the classroom, in competition, and in our community. Join us in applauding two students who continue to ring the bell through their hard work, leadership, and integrity.🔔 

• Bogdan Babenko `27—Football: Bogdan does great academically and continues to thrive socially as a leader on the Wayland Academy campus. On the football field, he does an outstanding job. He leads by example, demonstrating focus and a strong work ethic, setting a positive tone for the younger players. Pound for pound, he is one of the strongest students in the entire school. He has an elite commitment to the weight room and gym!  When I think about what it means to be both a good athlete and a good person, I always come back to what I call the man's and woman's rule: Be where you say you’ll be, doing what you said you’d do, to the best of your ability. That statement perfectly describes Bogdan, and that is why he is the Ring the Bell Athlete of the Month for boys' athletics. 

• Annica Blanc `27—Volleyball: Annica has shown incredible growth as both an athlete and a leader, stepping up with confidence on and off the court. Her willingness to chase down every ball and fight for every point inspires her teammates to play with the same energy and determination. As a leader on the JV2 team, she sets the tone by encouraging others, modeling hustle, and keeping a positive mindset in all situations. She has also stepped into a vital role as a bump-up player for JV, helping with rotations and contributing as a setter with poise and adaptability. With courage, a learning mindset, and a never-give-up attitude, she approaches challenges as opportunities to improve and uplift those around her. Her presence makes a difference, not only through her skill but through the leadership and support she consistently shows her team. Congratulations to Annica for #RingingtheBell
