Ring-the-Bell Student-Athletes of the Month for December 2024

Boys Swimming Ring the Bell Student-Athlete of the Month—Harry Yeo `26

Let's celebrate the December Ring the Bell Student-Athletes of the Month! These students are ringing the bell—personally, athletically, and academically. 🔔 Their coaches describe these students as confident, dedicated, inspiring, helpful, and hard-working. Congratulations, Big Red student-athletes!

  • Boys Basketball—Alpha Sylla `26: Alpha joined boys basketball for the first time this season and has already become a strong player for the junior varsity team. The JV team started their season with a 5-2 record heading into the holiday break. Alpha has been a standout on defense and has grown in confidence on offense as the season has progressed, knocking down a dramatic three-point basket late in the game to help secure the victory against Lourdes Academy.

Alpha has also had a great semester in the classroom, earning a spot on the honor roll this fall.  Alpha provides leadership and positivity in the classroom, on the court, and around campus. Ring the Bell, Alpha!

  • Girls Basketball—Alayna Quest `28: This month, we’re proud to recognize Alayna Quest as our girls' basketball “Ring The Bell” Student-Athlete of the Month! Alayna embodies everything we value in our program—hard work, a positive attitude, and a commitment to growth both on and off the court.

Whether it’s in practice, in the classroom, or cheering on her teammates, Alayna leads by example. She shows up every day ready to give her best effort, support her teammates, and embrace challenges with determination.

Her dedication to improving her skills and willingness to put the team first make her a standout member of our program. We’re inspired by her grit, perseverance, and character and are proud to celebrate her this month.

Congratulations, Alayna! Keep ringing the bell and inspiring those around you! 🏀🎉

  • Cheerleading—Ssanyu Nambeguya `25: The December cheerleading Student-Athlete of the Month is Ssanyu Nambeguya. Ssanyu was recently named co-captain of the varsity team. As a veteran cheerleader, she consistently demonstrates commitment to the team and inspires her teammates with positivity and talent.

  • Forensics—Ellie Sinclair `28: The Forensics "Ring the Bell" team member for December is Ellie Sinclair! Ellie is a superb addition to the team this year; she is diligent, conscientious, and helpful to other team members. Ellie chose a speech category for her piece this year called “Special Occasion Speaking", where students selected one of four scenarios requiring the main character to give some sort of speech. Ellie is giving a “Villain Monologue.” She did a wonderful job writing and memorizing her speech, and completed a lot of the characterization before Winter Break!  Ellie is a valuable member of the Forensics team and of Wayland Academy! #RTB

  • Powerlifting—AnnaSophia Schultz `25: The December Ring the Bell Athlete of the Month for Powerlifting is AnnaSophia Schultz. She is a first-year powerlifter who comes to practice with a GREAT attitude, PHENOMENAL energy, and a ZEST for life! She works hard each practice to learn the best techniques to get stronger. Great work, AnnaSophia! Way to Ring The Bell! #RTB
  • Boys Swimming—Harry Yeo `26: Harry always puts forth 100% effort in practice and encourages his teammates to do the same. His hard work and dedication to the team have helped lead to multiple best times and medal finishes in both individual and relay events.

  • Wrestling—Adas Bareikis `27: Wrestling's Student-Athlete of the Month is Adas Bareikis. When you begin wrestling, you are confronted with a sport that is very different than any you have ever competed in before. The best analogy that I can think of is that wrestling is playing chess with your body.  Wrestling requires the ability to process information in real-time that affects how you move, react, and get your opponent out of position so that you can score. Adas got his first win at our Johnson Creek tournament and followed that up with additional wins at our subsequent quads. Finally, during December, Adas juggled final exams, got grades that allowed him to get on the honor roll, and significantly improved at a new sport.  Consequently, due to his academic achievement and hard work, Adas is wrestling's Athlete of the Month.

Way to go, Big Red student-athletes! 🔔 🎉
