Ring-the-Bell Student-Athletes of the Week—August 28

Congratulations to the first Ring the Bell Student-Athletes of the week for the 2023-2024 school year! Join us in ringing the bell to celebrate these student-athletes who are ringing the bell personally, athletically, and academically. 🔔

• Cross Country—Luca Roetter Gresback `26: Luca worked hard all summer, even in the heat of Myanmar. He showed up ready to go on day one of practice. Luca is poised for a big year!
• Football—Victorious "Vicky" Ezah `24: Vicky is phenomenal at doing the TNT things (Take No Talent things). She gives great effort, has great positivity/enthusiasm, and is always asking questions to learn more about football and get better. On top of those things, she played in her first football scrimmage last week and had a HUGE Tackle! Way to Ring the Bell Vicky!
• Rowing—Ava Lappnow `24 and Pablo Moreira `24: For their work at the Dodge County Fair for our first annual fundraiser. We appreciate all they did over 6 days in lots of heat and many customers.
• Soccer—Deniz Ergun `24: Senior Defender Deniz Ergun has been ringing the bell for the boys soccer team so far this season. Deniz is a positive presence and role model at practice each day. He demonstrated outstanding effort in preventing scoring opportunities for our opponents in the first match of the season. Keep Ringing the Bell, Deniz!
• Swimming—Tulip Arriola `25: Tulip had great enthusiasm and worked extremely hard all week at practice. She is a good swimmer, and we look to her to be a leader for the rest of the year. Great work in Ringing the Bell Tulip!
• Tennis—Lucía "Lu" McGuinness `24: This week, we congratulate Lu McGuiness. Lu has been giving her all both on and off the courts here at Wayland. She has been working hard on her game during preseason and last week to make sure she is ready for next week's matches. Lu is a Prefect and is a Wayland Ambassador for visiting families. Lu truly 'Rings the Bell' at Wayland Academy.
• JV2 Volleyball—Genesis Garcia Ruiz `26: Genesis brings her "can do" attitude to each and every practice. Her encouragement and leadership to the JV2 athletes is welcomed and appreciated. She has improved her skills on the court with each and every practice that passes and is focused with determination to be a better player on the court. Her attitude and smile are exactly what will drive team success. Continue ringing the bell! 
• JV Volleyball—Ella Kikkert `26: Ella has shown her dedication and determination to improve her skills throughout the summer by focusing on attending weekly strength and conditioning practices and obtaining PRs focusing on improving her strength and endurance as well as attending volleyball camp. This is especially important to be a leader on and off the court, building mental and physical awareness. She has welcomed new students and athletes with her kindness and open attitude, creating an "on fire" environment for our JV team. Way to Ring the Bell!
• Varsity Volleyball—Dani Espinoza `24: Dani is the definition of leader for the varsity team. She was recently voted by her peers as Co-Captain for the team, as well as being a four-year volleyball varsity athlete. Her dedication was seen with her summer commitment attending weekly Strength and Conditioning practices, volleyball camp, and ringing the bell with team spirit. Her focus and determination are shown as an excellent example on and off the court! Way to Ring the Bell!
