The Council promotes the Academy and assists to further the school’s objectives. It provides a way for current parents to be involved in day-to-day activities at the school. Examples of Parents Council activities include facilitating opportunities for exchange of suggestions and ideas, assisting in recruitment efforts of new students, hands-on support of school fund-raising programs and initiatives, involvement in the planning and execution of Wayland parents’ events on and off campus, and much more!
The Council currently meets virtually once a month via a Zoom call as well as periodically throughout the year when necessary. The group has fun together and is very connected to the Head of Schools office as well as all other administrators at Wayland. They serve as a liaison for all parents and their connection to the school.
Parents Council Standing Committees
There are standing committees within the Council that allow for volunteer involvement at a more modest commitment level for any current parent. These committees have very specific purposes and meet on an as-needed basis.
Current committees include:
- The Parent to Parent Committee – focusing on communication
- The Parents Ambassador Committee – supporting the enrollment or recruitment of new students
- The Parents Fund Committee – working on fund-raising programs
- The Nominating Committee – developing membership to the full Parents Council.
