Wayland Hall Renovation

Wayland Hall Renovation Photos

Wayland Hall has been the icon building of the Academy since the school began educating young people over 150 years ago. Built in 1855, it was the first building on campus serving as the residence for all students and faculty, the academic building, library, and chapel. Wayland Hall has undergone remodeling throughout its history; this renovation, however, is the most extensive, encompassing a total rebuilding of the interior creating student suites and new faculty residences. The exterior will remain intact, although repairs will be made to the stately pillars and the entryway.

Who will benefit from renovations to Wayland Hall?
Wayland Hall will provide current and future young men and faculty with 32 two-bed suites, a guest suite, five new faculty residences, a recreation room, lounges and study areas on each floor, and laundry rooms for students and faculty. Wayland's Admission Team will use the modernized facility to retain and improve our competitive edge in attracting quality students. Wayland Hall will once again become the pride of all alums and the boarding school standard for residential housing excellence.

Who may contribute?
Alumni, parents, faculty, and friends of Wayland Academy are encouraged to support this fundraising effort. All individuals who contribute $1,000 or more will be recognized on the Donor Recognition Wall located in the main lounge of Wayland Hall. There are a limited number of individual naming opportunities to recognize individuals who make leadership gifts to the project. All gifts are fully tax deductible and can be made over a three to five-year period.

What is the timetable for completion?
The fundraising goal for the project is $3.6 million.  With your generous support, we currently have contributions and commitments totaling more than $2.4 million. By August 2009, we plan to raise an additional $1.2 million. As we continue our fundraising efforts, please encourage your classmates and peers to support this project.
