The 1855 Society

Wayland Academy's Board of Trustees created the 1855 Society in 2002. Chaired by Fred Bishop `57, the 1855 Society was established to recognize, honor, and encourage leadership in philanthropy through Wayland's annual campaign, The Academy Fund. The 1855 Society is made up of donors of $1,000 or more the The Academy Fund. Membership withing this prestigious group of donors is renewed annually.

The Annual Levels of Giving within the 1855 Society are:

Members of the 1855 Society may designate their gift each year to one of the following four critical operational needs of Wayland's educational mission:

  • Scholarships for deserving students
  • Opportunities for faculty enrichment
  • Programs that engage students in the arts and athletics
  • Maintenance of and improvements to campus facilities
