The required chapel service every Friday morning forms the bedrock for the spiritual life at Wayland. The chapel exists to reinforce the truth of the universal dignity of the human person that cements the character education at the Academy. The pursuit of Knowledge thus harmonizes with weekly reflection on the call to Character in light of the school's motto: Knowledge and Character. With respect to the Judeo-Christian foundation of the school, chapel also proposes ways in which the biblical tradition can enhance our appreciation and understanding of the truth of human dignity.
Nevertheless, spiritual life at Wayland Academy does not remain bound solely by the Friday morning chapel service. Students are invited to an optional Tuesday Prayer Service to strengthen their faith in Jesus Christ. Faculty take students to surrounding churches on Sundays. The bells of the chapel send a resonating purity throughout the campus at key times during the day. Although the choice to practice religion is left to each individual, all are welcome to respond to the voice of conscience echoing within their hearts throughout the academic day and into the residential evenings.
