| Tips for Sophomores |
- Continue to participate in the activities and clubs you most enjoy. When evaluating extracurriculars, admission officers look for consistency and commitment.
- You should continue to take the most challenging courses available to you.
- Take the PACT and the PSAT. Consider them practice for the ACT and SAT tests you will take next year.
- You may want to take an SAT II test at the end of your sophomore year. These tests are subject based and you should take them immediately after you have completed the course on which they are based. For example, take the chemistry test just after finishing your chemistry class. Discuss this with your guidance counselor, who should know whether you have received adequate preparation to take the test.
- Continue to hone your study skills.
- Read widely: books, newspapers, and magazines. This is good preparation for the SAT, which is largely a test of your vocabulary and reading skills.
