Wayland Academy recognizes the aesthetic, intrinsic and educational value of including the Fine Arts in a comprehensive learning experience.
Visual Arts classes help to develop students' personal artistic styles, artistic techniques for the different art media, and the ability to judge and evaluate great art. Students are encouraged to develop their area(s) of interest and try new art media.
Music at Wayland encourages individual and group learning. The students study different musical styles, develop techniques for their own instruments and/or voices, learn to evaluate music, learn practice and performance techniques and develop their own stage presence for solo and ensemble performing.
The Dramatic Productions throughout the year allow students to explore all aspects of theater. Students study various acting techniques, playwriting, proper vocal production, directing, props, lighting, costuming and set building and design. Traditional three-act plays, student written one-act plays, poetry readings, readers' theater, and Broadway musicals are all performed during the school year.
