College Fairs
- Students should dress professionally but comfortably, and wear comfortable shoes. It is prudent to arrive with a plan. Fairs usually provide a list of attendees, so students should have an idea of which schools they would like to visit.
- It is helpful for students to have a tote bag or plastic bag to hold all the materials they are likely to pick up. Students should fill out an inquiry card for every school in which they are interested. Schools use these cards to track the number of contacts a student has with the school and, and to gauge a student’s level of interest.
- This is not the time to discuss details regarding an application. Most representatives will not have time for such in-depth conversations. If it is crucial that a student speak in person with an admission officer, it is best to ask if a brief meeting can be arranged during a less-busy time.
- Unless there is a crowd around the table, students should take the time to introduce themselves and shake hands with representatives from the school.
