Wayland Hall, built in 1855, was the first building on campus. The four Corinthian pillars symbolize the four pillars of a Wayland education: scholarship, faith, health and service.
In 2009, Wayland Hall underwent a complete renovation. The work turned out so well that some students now affectionately call it the “Wayland Hilton.” Wayland Hall has four floors, with 32 two-bedroom suites, five new faculty residences, a recreation room, lounges and study areas on each floor, and laundry rooms for students and faculty. It is the residence hall for freshmen and sophomore boys.
